Plant Information

  • Latin Name: Bellis perennis
  • Common Name: White English Daisy
  • Watering Requirements: Moderate
  • Sun Exposure: Full sun to partial shade
  • Soil Conditions: Well-draining, fertile soil
  • Mature Plant Height: 4-6 inches
  • Mature Plant Width: 6-8 inches
  • Plant Care

English Daisies are relatively easy to maintain and require minimal care once established. Regular deadheading promotes continuous blooming and prevents self-seeding. Water consistently during the growing season, keeping soil moist but not waterlogged. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring and mid-summer to encourage healthy growth and abundant blooms.

During hot summer months, provide afternoon shade to protect the plants from intense heat. In winter, apply a light layer of mulch to protect the roots in colder regions. Divide clumps every 2-3 years in early spring or fall to maintain plant vigor and prevent overcrowding.

    Planting Instructions

Plant English Daisies in spring or fall, spacing them 6-8 inches apart. Dig holes twice the width of the root ball and at the same depth. Remove the plant from its container and gently loosen the roots. Place in the hole, ensuring the crown is level with the soil surface. Backfill with soil, firm gently, and water thoroughly.

For container planting, use a well-draining potting mix and ensure containers have adequate drainage holes. Position containers where plants will receive morning sun and afternoon shade for optimal growth. Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture during the establishment period.
