Plant Information
Plant Care
The Whiskey Hill Spruce is remarkably low-maintenance once established. Water deeply but infrequently to encourage deep root growth, especially during the first growing season. Apply a layer of mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds, keeping it away from the trunk. Fertilize sparingly in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer formulated for conifers. Pruning is typically unnecessary but can be done in late winter or early spring to maintain shape.
Planting Instructions
Select a location with adequate space for mature growth and full sun exposure. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and at the same depth. Remove the container and gently loosen the roots. Place the tree in the hole, ensuring it’s straight and at the same level it was growing in the container. Backfill with original soil, tamping down gently to remove air pockets. Water thoroughly and apply a 2-3 inch layer of mulch around the base, keeping it away from the trunk.
