Plant Information
Plant Care
So Sweet Hosta is remarkably easy to maintain. Water regularly during the first growing season to establish a deep root system. Once established, provide moderate moisture and protect from afternoon sun. Remove spent flower stalks and yellowed foliage to maintain appearance. Apply a balanced fertilizer in spring when shoots emerge.
Apply a layer of mulch around the plant base to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Watch for slugs and snails, particularly in spring. Division is rarely necessary but can be done in early spring or fall if desired.
Planting Instructions
Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and as deep as the container. Loosen the soil at the bottom and sides of the hole. Remove the plant from its container and gently loosen the roots. Place the plant in the hole, ensuring the crown is level with the soil surface.
Backfill with soil, firming gently to eliminate air pockets. Water thoroughly after planting. Space plants 36 inches apart to allow for mature spread. Add a 2-inch layer of mulch around the plant, keeping it away from the crown to prevent rot.
