Plant Care
Snow-in-Summer is an exceptionally low-maintenance plant that thrives in poor soil conditions. Regular trimming after flowering helps maintain its compact shape and prevents it from becoming too invasive. While drought-tolerant once established, occasional watering during extended dry periods will keep it looking its best. The plant benefits from a light shearing after flowering to promote fresh growth and maintain its neat appearance.
Planting Instructions
Plant Snow-in-Summer in spring or fall, spacing plants 12-18 inches apart. Dig holes twice the width of the root ball and at the same depth. Place the plant at the same level it was growing in the container, backfill with soil, and water thoroughly. Apply a thin layer of mulch around the plants, keeping it away from the stems to prevent rot. While the plant establishes, keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged.
For optimal growth, plant in a location with full sun and well-draining soil. Snow-in-Summer is particularly well-suited for rock gardens, slopes, and other challenging areas where other plants might struggle. The plant’s spreading nature makes it an excellent choice for erosion control on banks and hillsides.
