Siberian Iris are remarkably low-maintenance plants that thrive with minimal attention. Regular watering during the establishment period is essential, but once established, they become quite drought tolerant. Remove spent blooms to encourage a longer flowering period and maintain plant appearance. In late fall, cut back the foliage to about 4 inches above ground level. Division is recommended every 3-4 years to maintain plant vigor and prevent overcrowding.
Planting Instructions
Plant your Siberian Iris in spring or early fall for best results. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and at the same depth. Position the rhizome just below the soil surface, spreading the roots outward. Space plants 18-24 inches apart to allow for mature growth. Water thoroughly after planting and apply a layer of mulch around the base, keeping it away from the crown to prevent rot. Avoid planting too deeply, as this can lead to poor blooming and potential rhizome rot.
