Plant Care
Royal Star Magnolia requires minimal maintenance once established. Regular watering during the first growing season helps develop a deep, extensive root system. Apply a layer of mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds, but keep it away from the trunk. Fertilize in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer. Pruning should be limited to removing dead or damaged branches, and if necessary, should be done immediately after flowering.
Planting Instructions
Select a location with well-draining soil and adequate space for mature growth. Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and at the same depth. Remove the tree from the container and gently loosen the roots. Place the tree in the hole, ensuring it’s planted at the same depth as it was in the container. Backfill with soil, water thoroughly, and apply a 2-3 inch layer of mulch around the base, keeping it away from the trunk.
