This low-maintenance ground cover requires minimal attention once established. Remove any dead or yellowing foliage to maintain appearance and prevent disease. During extended dry periods, provide supplemental water to keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Apply a thin layer of compost in spring to provide nutrients and maintain soil moisture. No deadheading is necessary, though it may extend blooming period.
Planting Instructions
Plant Purple Dragon Lamium in spring or fall, spacing plants 12-18 inches apart. Dig holes twice as wide as the root ball and at the same depth. Place plant at the same level it was growing in the container, backfill with soil, and water thoroughly.
Add a 2-inch layer of mulch around plants, keeping it away from stems to prevent rot. Water deeply after planting and maintain consistent moisture until established. In areas with harsh winters, apply additional mulch for protection.
For container planting, use well-draining potting mix and ensure containers have adequate drainage holes. Plant at the same depth as in the original container and water thoroughly after planting.
