Plant Care
Palm Sedge Grass is remarkably low-maintenance and adaptable to various growing conditions. Regular watering is essential during the establishment period, but once established, it becomes quite drought-tolerant. Cut back the foliage in late winter or early spring before new growth emerges. This grass tolerates both wet and dry conditions, making it an excellent choice for rain gardens or water-side plantings.
Division is recommended every 3-4 years to maintain plant vigor and prevent center die-out. Remove any dead or yellowing foliage throughout the growing season to maintain its attractive appearance. This grass requires minimal fertilization and is generally pest and disease resistant.
Planting Instructions
Plant Palm Sedge Grass in spring or fall for optimal establishment. Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and at the same depth. Place the plant at the same level it was growing in the container, backfill with soil, and water thoroughly. Space plants 24 inches apart when creating mass plantings.
Apply a 2-inch layer of mulch around the base of the plant, keeping it away from the crown to prevent rot. Water deeply and regularly during the first growing season to establish an extensive root system. Reduce watering once established, but maintain consistent moisture during dry spells.
