Plant Information
Plant Care
Montana Juniper is incredibly easy to maintain and drought-tolerant once established. Regular pruning is not necessary but can be done in early spring to maintain shape. This hardy plant is resistant to deer and rabbits, making it an excellent choice for natural landscapes.
During the first growing season, water regularly to establish a deep root system. After establishment, reduce watering frequency as the plant is drought-tolerant. Apply a slow-release fertilizer in early spring if desired, though the plant typically thrives without additional feeding.
Planting Instructions
Choose a location with full sun and well-draining soil. Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and at the same depth. Remove the plant from its container and gently loosen the roots. Place in the hole, ensuring the top of the root ball is level with the soil surface.
Backfill with soil, tamping down gently to remove air pockets. Water thoroughly and apply a 2-3 inch layer of mulch around the base, keeping it away from the trunk. Space plants 4-5 feet apart for optimal growth.
