This slow-growing cultivar maintains a naturally dense habit, making it perfect for small gardens, containers, and rock gardens. Its unique foliage transforms from bright green in spring to brilliant golden yellow in fall.
Plant Information
Plant Care
The Mariken Maiden Hair is remarkably low-maintenance and resistant to pests and diseases. Water regularly during the first growing season to establish a deep root system. Once established, it becomes drought-tolerant. Pruning is rarely necessary due to its naturally compact growth habit. Apply a layer of mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
Planting Instructions
Plant in spring or fall for best results. Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and at the same depth. Remove the plant from its container and gently loosen the roots. Place in the hole, ensuring the top of the root ball is level with the soil surface. Backfill with soil, water thoroughly, and add a 2-3 inch layer of mulch, keeping it away from the trunk.
