Plant Care
Malepartus Maiden Grass is remarkably low-maintenance once established. Cut back old foliage in late winter or early spring before new growth emerges. Division is recommended every 3-4 years to maintain vigor and prevent center die-out. This grass is drought-tolerant but performs best with regular watering during establishment. Remove spent plumes if self-seeding is not desired.
Planting Instructions
Plant in spring or early fall for best results. Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and at the same depth. Place the plant at the same level it was growing in the container. Backfill with soil, water thoroughly, and apply a 2-inch layer of mulch around the base, keeping it away from the crown. Space plants 3-4 feet apart to allow for mature spread. Water deeply and regularly during the first growing season to establish an extensive root system.
