Plant Information
Plant Care
Little Miss Maiden Grass is remarkably low-maintenance and drought-tolerant once established. Cut back old foliage to 6 inches above ground in late winter or early spring before new growth emerges. Remove dead foliage as needed throughout the growing season. Division is rarely necessary but can be performed every 3-4 years if desired.
This grass variety shows excellent resistance to pests and diseases, making it an ideal choice for both novice and experienced gardeners. Fertilization is typically unnecessary, as the plant thrives in average garden soil.
Planting Instructions
Plant in spring or early fall for best results. Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and at the same depth. Remove the plant from its container and gently loosen the roots. Place in the hole, ensuring the top of the root ball is level with the soil surface.
Backfill with soil, firming gently to eliminate air pockets. Water thoroughly after planting and maintain consistent moisture until established. Space plants 2-3 feet apart when creating mass plantings or borders.
Apply a 2-inch layer of mulch around the base, keeping it away from the crown to prevent rot. This helps retain moisture and suppress weed growth while the plant establishes.
