Plant Information
Plant Care
Jack Frost Siberian Bugloss is relatively low-maintenance once established. Regular watering is essential to maintain consistently moist soil, but avoid waterlogged conditions. Remove any damaged or yellowing leaves to maintain appearance. After flowering, trim spent blooms to encourage foliage growth. Apply a layer of organic mulch in spring to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
In hot summer regions, protect plants from afternoon sun to prevent leaf scorching. Division is recommended every 3-4 years in early spring to maintain plant vigor and prevent overcrowding. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring when new growth emerges.
Planting Instructions
Plant in spring or early fall for best results. Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and at the same depth. Mix organic matter into the native soil to improve drainage and fertility. Place the plant at the same level it was growing in the container, backfill with soil, and water thoroughly.
Space plants 18-24 inches apart to allow for mature spread. Create a shallow basin around the plant to help retain water. Apply a 2-inch layer of mulch around the plant, keeping it away from the crown to prevent rot.
