Plant Care
Husker Red Beard-Tongue is remarkably easy to maintain. Remove spent flower stalks to encourage continuous blooming and maintain plant vigor. Cut back foliage in late fall or early spring before new growth emerges. This plant is deer resistant and attracts pollinators, making it an excellent choice for naturalized gardens. Division is rarely necessary but can be performed every 3-4 years if desired.
Planting Instructions
Plant in spring or fall, spacing plants 18-24 inches apart. Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and at the same depth. Place plant at the same level it was growing in the container, backfill with soil, and water thoroughly. Apply a light layer of mulch around the base, keeping it away from the crown to prevent rot. Water regularly during the first growing season to establish a deep root system.
