Canadian Hemlocks thrive with consistent moisture but require well-draining soil to prevent root rot. Regular mulching helps maintain soil moisture and temperature. Prune in early spring to maintain desired shape and remove any dead or damaged branches. Monitor for woolly adelgid infestations, particularly in areas where this pest is common.
Planting Instructions
Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and equal in depth. Remove the plant from its container and gently loosen the roots. Place the tree in the hole, ensuring it sits at the same depth as it was in the container. Backfill with original soil, tamping down gently to remove air pockets. Water thoroughly and apply a 2-3 inch layer of mulch, keeping it away from the trunk.
