  • Plant Care

The Green Penguin Scots Pine is remarkably easy to maintain and highly adaptable to various growing conditions. Once established, it demonstrates excellent drought tolerance and requires minimal watering. This hardy evergreen is resistant to deer browsing and tolerates urban pollution well. Annual pruning in late winter or early spring helps maintain its compact shape, though it naturally retains an appealing rounded form.

During the growing season, apply a slow-release fertilizer specifically formulated for conifers to promote healthy growth and maintain the vibrant green needle color. Watch for any signs of needle blight or rust, though this variety shows good resistance to common pine diseases. Winter protection is generally unnecessary as this cultivar demonstrates excellent cold hardiness.

    Planting Instructions

Select a planting location that receives full sun and has well-draining soil. Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and equal to its depth. Remove the plant from its container and gently loosen the roots. Place the plant in the hole, ensuring it sits at the same depth as it was in the container. Backfill with soil, tamping down gently to remove air pockets.

Create a shallow water basin around the plant and water thoroughly. Apply a 2-3 inch layer of mulch around the base, keeping it away from the trunk to prevent moisture-related issues. Water regularly during the first growing season to establish a deep root system.
