The Formanek Norway Spruce is remarkably low-maintenance and disease-resistant. Water regularly during the first growing season to establish a deep root system. Once established, it becomes drought tolerant. Apply a layer of mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Fertilize in early spring with a slow-release evergreen fertilizer. This variety rarely requires pruning but can be lightly shaped in late winter if desired.
Planting Instructions
Plant in spring or early fall for best results. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and at the same depth. Remove the container and gently loosen the roots. Place the tree in the hole, ensuring it sits at the same level as it did in the container. Backfill with soil, tamping down gently to remove air pockets. Water thoroughly and apply a 2-3 inch layer of mulch, keeping it away from the trunk.
