Plant Care
Encore Maiden Grass is remarkably low-maintenance once established. Cut back old foliage to 6 inches above ground in late winter or early spring before new growth emerges. During the first growing season, water regularly to establish a deep root system. Fertilization is typically unnecessary, but a light application of balanced fertilizer in spring can promote healthy growth.
This grass variety shows excellent resistance to pests and diseases, making it an ideal choice for both novice and experienced gardeners. Division is recommended every 3-4 years to maintain plant vigor and prevent center die-out.
Planting Instructions
Plant in spring or early fall for best results. Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and at the same depth. Remove the plant from its container and gently loosen the roots. Place in the hole, ensuring the top of the root ball is level with the soil surface. Backfill with soil, firming gently to eliminate air pockets.
Water thoroughly after planting and apply a 2-3 inch layer of mulch around the base, keeping it away from the crown. Space plants 3-4 feet apart to allow for mature spread.
