Diamond Lake Hosta is relatively low-maintenance and slug-resistant. Water regularly during the growing season, keeping soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Remove spent flower stalks and yellowed foliage to maintain appearance. Apply a balanced fertilizer in spring when new growth emerges. Mulch to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
Division is rarely necessary but can be done in spring or fall if desired. This variety shows excellent resistance to common hosta problems and maintains its beautiful blue-green color throughout the season when planted in appropriate light conditions.
Planting Instructions
Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and at the same depth. Remove the plant from its container and gently loosen the roots. Place in hole, ensuring the crown is at soil level. Backfill with original soil amended with organic matter.
Water thoroughly after planting and apply a 2-inch layer of mulch around the plant, keeping it away from the crown. Space plants 3-4 feet apart to accommodate mature spread.
For best results, plant in spring or early fall. Choose a location protected from strong winds to prevent leaf damage. Avoid planting in areas with poor drainage or heavy clay soil.
