Daybreak Tickseed is remarkably easy to maintain and drought-tolerant once established. Regular deadheading of spent blooms encourages continuous flowering throughout the season. Cut back the entire plant by one-third in late summer to promote a fresh flush of blooms. In late fall, trim the plant to ground level to prepare for winter dormancy. This hardy perennial requires minimal fertilization and is generally pest and disease resistant.
Planting Instructions
Plant in spring or early fall, spacing plants 18-24 inches apart. Dig a hole twice the width of the container and at the same depth. Remove the plant from its container and gently loosen the root ball. Place the plant in the hole, ensuring it sits at the same level as it was in the container. Backfill with soil, firm gently, and water thoroughly. Apply a 2-inch layer of mulch around the plant, keeping it away from the crown to prevent rot.
