Plant Information
Plant Care
The Thornless Honeylocust is remarkably low-maintenance and adaptable. It demonstrates excellent tolerance to urban conditions, including salt, drought, and pollution. Regular watering during the first growing season helps establish a deep, extensive root system. Once established, this tree requires minimal care beyond occasional pruning to maintain shape and remove any damaged branches.
Planting Instructions
Plant your Honeylocust in spring or fall for optimal growth. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and at the same depth. Remove the tree from its container and gently loosen the roots. Place the tree in the hole, ensuring it’s straight and at the proper depth. Backfill with soil, tamping down gently to remove air pockets. Create a water basin around the tree and apply a 2-3 inch layer of mulch, keeping it away from the trunk. Water thoroughly and deeply after planting.
