Plant Care
Black Lace Elderberry Standards require regular watering to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during establishment. Apply a layer of mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Fertilize in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer. Prune in late winter to maintain shape and remove any dead or crossing branches. Regular deadheading of spent blooms will encourage continued flowering.
Planting Instructions
Plant in spring or fall for best results. Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and at the same depth. Remove the plant from its container and gently loosen the roots. Place in the hole, ensuring the graft union remains above soil level. Backfill with soil, water thoroughly, and add a 2-3 inch layer of mulch, keeping it away from the trunk.
