Plant Overview
Autumn Joy Stonecrop is a stunning herbaceous perennial that offers year-round interest to any garden. This versatile plant features thick, succulent-like foliage and large flower heads that transition from pale pink to deep copper throughout the growing season. Its architectural form and drought tolerance make it an excellent choice for rock gardens, borders, and mass plantings.
Plant Information
Plant Care
Autumn Joy Stonecrop is remarkably low-maintenance and drought-tolerant once established. During the first growing season, water regularly to establish a deep root system. After establishment, reduce watering frequency as this plant prefers drier conditions. Remove spent flower heads in late winter or early spring before new growth emerges. Division is recommended every 3-4 years to maintain plant vigor and prevent center die-out.
Planting Instructions
Plant in spring or early fall, spacing plants 18-24 inches apart. Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and at the same depth. Place the plant at the same level it was growing in the container, backfill with soil, and water thoroughly. Apply a thin layer of mulch around the plant, keeping it away from the crown to prevent rot. In colder regions, provide winter protection with a light layer of straw or evergreen boughs.
