Plant Care
Autumn Fest Sugar Maple requires minimal maintenance once established. Water deeply and regularly during the first growing season to establish an extensive root system. Apply a layer of mulch around the base, keeping it away from the trunk, to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Fertilize in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer. Prune in late winter to remove dead, diseased, or crossing branches.
Planting Instructions
Select a planting location that allows for the tree’s mature size, away from buildings and power lines. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and at the same depth. Remove the tree from its container and gently loosen the roots. Place the tree in the hole, ensuring it’s straight and at the same depth it was growing in the container. Backfill with native soil, tamping down gently to remove air pockets. Water thoroughly and apply a 2-3 inch layer of mulch around the base, keeping it away from the trunk.
